A Gift is Coming in ONE Week!
Hi hi,
Daylight Savings is just about to give us a gift: an extra hour. ⏱️
And while most of us will just roll over and use it for sleep (no judgment—I’ve been there, too), what if you kept waking up at your normal time, or even “15 minutes earlier”? Suddenly, you’ve created bonus space in your morning… and what you do with that time can ripple through your whole day in the best way.
I’ll be honest. At times, I can fall out of my morning routine and while some mornings I know I need the extra sleep (thank you, perimenopause, for keeping me awake so.many.hours), I ALSO know that my mornings are a literal day-changer and life-changer.
This simple practice helps me set intentions, create better energy, and remember what's truly important (versus what just popped up in front of me). It's one of my best tools to boost my mood, feel grounded, and set the tone for an amazing day.
Hal Elrod, author of The Miracle Morning and the person who inspired me to create my own morning ritual, said it best:
“How you wake up each day and your morning routine (or lack thereof) dramatically affects your levels of success in every single area of your life.”
While it sounds dramatic, research backs it up! Studies show that early risers report higher productivity, greater positivity, and more proactive behavior throughout the day!
For me, when I start my day on my own terms, ideally before anybody in my beloved family needs me ;), I notice a huge difference. I’m calmer, more grounded, more inspired, and more available for everyone else.
One of my favorite tools? The Five-Minute Gratitude Journal.
It’s simple but powerful. Somedays I use it as is and some days I tweak it a tad:
- I write down three things I’m grateful for (instant heart-expander 💗)
- I choose three things I’m excited about today (science shows this helps your brain make that moment more salient, so you actually savor it more)
- I set one small intention for how I want to show up
That’s it. Just five minutes. But those five minutes of connecting within create an internal shift that allows me to show up brighter, clearer, and more grounded with my family, my work, and my community.
So here’s your invitation: don’t let this “extra” hour slip through your fingers. Use it to prime your day before the world comes knocking.
Question for you! If you could just choose one activity, what would you do with 30–60 bonus minutes in the morning? Maybe let your mind and heart daydream on that for the week...
With gratitude and a little extra sunshine,
Abbey

PPS: Want to create a morning routine that truly lights you up but not sure where to start? I put together a beautiful, fun (and free!) 12-page workbook called Morning Magic: 55 Ways to Light Up Your Morning! ✨ You can grab it here!
Real talk: The workbook itself is full of heart (and absolutely worth it!). It also walks you through a short sales path for even more morning magic because I truly believe in the power of what this simple practice will give you. That said, the tech flow is still a little clunky, and the videos you’ll see are very first-draft energy 😉 but the content is gold, and it’s all made with love. 💜
